Miss Patel is a Burns Clinical Research Fellow at University Hospital Birmingham, Queen Elizabeth. She is primarily involved with the Scar Laser project (SMOOTH), but is also involved in other trials including, AceticA, SIFTi-2 and Re-Energise.

Miss Patel has trained in the West Midlands, completing her Core Surgical Training gaining an interest in Plastic, Burn and Reconstructive Surgery. She has worked as a Plastic Registrar within the region and has an interest in medical education. Following completion of the Emergency Management of Severe Burns Course, she was recommended as a faculty member with instructor potential.
Miss Patel currently works within the NIHR SRMRC and the Centre for Conflict Wound Research as a Burns Clinical Research Fellow. Her areas of interest at present include wound healing, scar management and the effect of laser therapy on scar biology. She aims to complete training as a Plastic Surgeon with a continued interest in research.
