Dr Anita Slade

Role within the CfCWR

Dr Slade is part of the operational group for SSF-CfCWR and a member of the Centre for Patient Reported Outcomes Research team. She is involved in evaluating and developing PROMs for use in clinical trials with a patient-reported outcomes measure element, including the scar laser project.

Biography

Dr Slade is experienced in analysing and developing patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures in health and social care. She is experienced in a wide range of quantitative statistical analysis techniques. She has project managed a number of complex projects which evaluated and developed PRO instruments in multiple therapeutic settings including international rehabilitation units. The main focus of her work and interests are around the analysis and development of PRO instruments using Rasch analysis. Rasch analysis examines the extent to which PRO instruments are delivering reliable and valid measurements of the underlying trait purported to be measured by the instrument.

Dr Slade is also an experienced undergraduate and post-graduate lecturer, having taught on BSc, MSc and MSc Clinical Research programmes. Her clinical interests include rehabilitation, neurology, neurosurgery, rheumatology, orthopaedics, oncology and general medicine.  She was involved in the development of the SPIRIT PRO extension guidelines. She has supervised PhD, MSc and BSc dissertation projects using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
